In my recent Instagram post I wrote about how I had to get on without much support being a new mum when our daughter was born. My husband travels for work a lot and we don’t have any family here.
Decluttering seems to be the trend in 2019, with Tidying up with Marie Kondo gaining vast popularity on Netflix and “everyone’s” Insta or Facebook feeds claiming to tackle their homes to become clutter-free and more organised. I’m not jumping on the bandwagon here because I’ve never liked clutter in the first place and am pretty good at doing regular spring cleans to get rid of old items, be it clothes, books or just piles of paperwork that’s no longer needed. However, it did make me think how many things we’ve bought since our daughter was born and how obsessed I’ve become trying to keep our living tidy because her stuff seems to be everywhere! The months of October and November brought me to my knees… 😥 . It started in mid-October with our daughter’s sniffles and I thought she was ok to go swimming but sure enough, the next day she looked and felt much worse. The following day she didn’t look well at all and was just clinging on to me so I got a last minute doctor’s appointment. I was astonished when she announced our little girl had tonsillitis! That was the last thing I thought she could have. Continue reading
She’s only 13 months old and already suffering from tonsillitis! She had a cold more than a week ago but was feeling and looking well last week on Wednesday when I took her swimming. Massive mum guilt here because the next day she looked and felt miserable. Very clingy, wanted to be held and cuddled all the awake times. It reminded me of the newborn days when I found it hard to put her down as she’d start crying soon after. Continue reading
We’ve been swimming with Water Babies since she was 11 weeks old and it’s been one of the baby/toddler activities that I used to look forward to the most. Used to… When she turned one she completely changed in the water – she is clingy, going underwater scares her, pretty much everything that we were able to do previously, she has a problem with. She still loves bath time so it didn’t make any sense until our instructor explained the water wobbles. Continue reading
I’m posting this a day before our little girl’s first birthday and I’m sat here going through the birth in my head again. The first months of her life are a blur but her birth is so fresh in my mind like it happened yesterday. It wasn’t traumatic, it was a water birth, no drugs. Just gas and air and me breathing like Darth Vader. Continue reading
As the World Breastfeeding Week is ending, I thought of writing up my own story on this journey and a journey it has been.
The aim of this week is to raise awareness of the links between good nutrition and increase breastfeeding rates worldwide by supporting mothers to take up on it and also continue breastfeeding for at least the first six month of the baby’s life.
Back in April we went to Lanzarote. Our little girl is clocking in those air miles like no other. On her first flight to Tallinn in October she was given British Airways travel log book and we record her miles by letting the captain fill it out during the flight. It will be a nice keepsake for her one day. Continue reading
I’m not rocking it but at least I’m rolling with it.
My baby girl turned six months old about a week ago and although we’re doing a lot better; might I say some days and nights are fantastic, with her napping perfectly and waking up only once a night (not sleeping through here yet!); there are still days when I miss weekend lie-ins. Doing nothing and going to bed really late not worrying that I will potentially have to be up in a few hours. I miss sitting in a pub drinking wine with friends. I miss lounging on the sofa, drinking coffee, reading a good book or binge watching something on Netflix. Continue reading
And the lack of it… Once you get used to better sleep and they start waking up frequently again…
I’m posting this when she’s already 5 months old but the messy month of January just didn’t allow me to relax, sit down and finish this blog post… ☹️. Continue reading
